A musical play. Book, music & lyrics by David Wood.
Based on the RUPERT stories and characters by Mary Tourtel and Alfred Bestall. Presented by Layston Productions Limited, and first performed at the Thorndike Theatre, Leatherhead, in 1993, the production subsequently toured the UK.
Rupert and his famous friends, including Edward Trunk, Bill Badger, Podgy Pig, Algy Pug, Pong Ping and Tiger Lily feature in this new story.
Edward Trunk wishes for a sunny day for his birthday, but Nutwood is currently experiencing only winter weather. On the advice of Wise Owl, Rupert goes to see the Clerk of the Weather.
The friendly Green Dragon is a great help, but Zita, the Ice Maid, has to be foiled first! Tuneful songs and lots of audience participation.
The original production employed eight actors, who doubled and trebled. A larger cast is possible.
“Everything you would expect of a Rupert tale is there – fantasy with a dash of real science, whimsy plus morality.”
Derby Evening Telegraph
